Literacy Texas Presents
Training of Trainers
Principles of Participatory Education
Literacy Texas provides adult literacy/adult education Training of Trainer workshops in the state of Texas. Literacy Texas facilitates the disbursement of reimbursement funds for the Volunteer Training Initiative administered by TCALL for programs participating in this training. The goal of these workshops are to give teachers/literacy tutors, who have some experience working with adult students, the skills and techniques needed to provide quality training/teaching for their organization. When you receive your certification from this workshop, you will be certified to train those who work with adult education/literacy students.
This workshop is designed to teach prospective trainers/teachers how to use the principles of participatory adult education. It does not attempt to teach the content of any specific training or curriculum. As an adult education/literacy provider you already know the content of the training and curriculum that is used in your program(s). Through this training you will review the philosophies of participatory adult education and improve your performance of techniques and drills. The Basic Literacy and ESL Trainers Guides and/or curriculum that drive your programs' training will give you the content and instructions for conducting your own training/in-service. This training is free of charge to participants.
Even if you are not directly involved with literacy/education as a trained tutor/teacher, you are invited to join us at this training to improve your trainer/teaching skills and techniques to expand your abilities to work with your organization, and network with other trainers.
This Training of Trainers is a two-day workshop. Registrants are required to attend both days to be certified.
