South Texas Symposium


Dr. Havidán Rodríguez is the Founding Provost & Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, and a tenured professor in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology, at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Prior to arriving at UTRGV, Dr. Rodríguez served at several institutions, including the University of Texas - Pan American (UTPA) University of Delaware, University of Puerto-Rico-Mayaguez (UPRM), and was a core faculty member and former director of the Disaster Research Center (DRC). He has received numerous recognitions and awards, including the Frey Foundation Distinguished Visiting Professor at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He obtained his PhD in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Free parking for the symposium will be available. A detailed map of the lots is available here; visitors may park in regular spaces in lots E4, E5, and E8. Please do not park in spaces marked for Maintenance, Zone 5, or Handicap (without a placard), or in no-parking/red zones.
